Summer’s in Full Bloom at MacArthur Beach State Park

Jul 19, 2013 - Jul 21, 2013

School is out and MacArthur Beach State Park is ready for summer fun.  The Park has scheduled a ton of activities for the whole family, including summer camps, guided snorkeling tours, surfing lessons, guided turtle walks and more!

Summer camp at MacArthur Beach State Park is more than just fun for the kids; it’s educational too.  The goal of the camp is to help each camper appreciate and understand nature, to take an active role in conservation of the environment and to provide activities to increase independence, sportsmanship and self-esteem.  Camp is held in week long sessions and starts June 17th.  A few spots are still available.

On Saturdays throughout the summer the Park is offering guided snorkeling tours from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  The guided snorkeling tour is of the Park’s near shore reef.  Participants will learn about the species that inhabit MacArthur’s reefs and waters and have a chance to see sea life up close and personal.

Another exciting offering at the Park this summer is Guided Turtle Walks and Talks.  The turtle walks will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout June and July ending July 19, 2013.  The walks are open to the public (children 8 years old and above) and are held 8:00 -11:00 PM (or later) depending on the turtles.   This is a wonderful opportunity to catch a glimpse of a nesting loggerhead sea turtle. You must make reservations to participate by calling 561-624-6952.

Finally, On Sunday, July 21, from 1:00-3:00 PM Ranger Rob will instruct kids and adults on the basics of surfing.  The lessons will be held on land and in the water and kids must be at least 10 years old to participate.

Also, as always, MacArthur Beach State park will have their daily nature walks, bluegrass music on the second and third Sundays of the month and birding tours on June 2nd and July 28th.  For more information on these or any activities at MacArthur Beach State Park please visit
